Şükrü Özyıldız is a Turkish actor. He acted in Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? Facts:

• his mother is a Greek from Rhodes and his father is a Turk from Trabzon
• while studying at Ege University, he went to Portugal through the Erasmus program
• he tried many sports: football, basketball and handball at school, then he became interested in martial arts and that interest stayed with him throughout his life
  • during his time in Portugal he even took part in cage fights
  • later stated that he gave up cage fighting and now releases his hyperactive energy while working on TV sets
• attended something like a personal development seminar where they made them do a few exercises
  • someone mentioned that these exercises were also used in acting and he liked that, realising he could express himself, he became interested in acting
• lost his mother in a car accident at age 9
  • his sister (then 7) became the closest person in his life and he looks after both her future and his own
• knew Romaic/Greek as a child because his grandmother, mother and uncle often spoke it around him (mostly when they argued so the kids wouldn’t understand) but he forgot it after his mother passed away
• his mother’s death was a major trauma
  • diagnosed with hyperactivity, he was an extremely energetic and mischievous child who was constantly moving and often came home from the streets bruised and scratched
• tried guitar, piano and violin, but eventually settled on the drums, saying “This is the one for me!”
• jokes about having an old-fashioned name like Şükrü, saying it came from his grandfather and even once tweeted humorously about it
  • still, he says he’s completely comfortable with his name
• he is a devoted fan of the series The Boys
• says he never forgets a series he has watched, but always uses IMDb as a reference
  • he checks episode ratings to understand the build-up and set his expectations and if the ratings drop toward the end, he sometimes wonders whether it’s worth starting at all
• says his dream was always to study acting, but he was steered toward a conventional nine-to-five life
  • he adds that breaking free from that path and starting to pursue his own dreams happened after his time with Müjdat Gezen Art Centre
• the biggest lesson he has learned is that everyone must experience all emotions and situations, which is why he believes no one should judge others or claim to know everything
• says that if he had to listen to the same song for the rest of his life, it would be Instrumedley by Dream Theater
• his favourite foreign TV series is Dark
• says he once dreamed of changing the past, but later realised that certain experiences are necessary and would resurface in another form even if altered
  • adds that while he wouldn’t change events, he wishes his personal processes had been shorter and less damaging
