Ömer Faruk Aran is a Turkish actor. He acted in Leke (Tainted Love), Arka Sokaklar (Back Streets, also: Ülkü, Celil, Emre & Mert Ramazan), digital series İşte Bu Benim Masalım (Here’s My Tale), as Kuzu Bey in Destan, as Bora Cansız in Al Sancak (The Hunter, also: Uğur) and as Şehzade Alâeddin Ali Bey in Kuruluş: Osman (Establishment: Osman, also: Seray, Ali, Miray, Erdem & Burak Çelik) & Kuruluş: Orhan (Establishment: Orhan, also: Bennu, Alina, Semih, Barış, Cemre, Mert, Mahassine & Şükrü).

Facts:

• he’s the only child from his parents’ marriage, but from their previous marriages he has eight older siblings, making him one of nine siblings in total
• received on-camera acting training from actress Birce Akalay
• didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming an actor; he struggled academically and worked various jobs until he joined a theatre course just to stay active and socialize
  • discovering how much he loved it, he trained for a year and realized acting was exactly what he wanted to do
• as a child, he wanted to become a doctor because there were many sick people in his family and he dreamed of healing them, but life took him in a different direction
  • he explains that illness has always been part of his family life, first his father was sick, then his mother and as the youngest child born when his mother was 40, he grew up amid ongoing health struggles at home

• admires Burak Özçivit deeply, seeing him as both an idol and a kind, supportive presence on set whose professionalism and humor lift everyone’s spirits

• he was amazed by the global response, receiving messages in languages he didn’t even recognize from countries he had never heard of and says the show truly has an incredible worldwide audience
• after joining the project, he thoroughly researched Alaeddin Bey’s life, duties and personality to portray him accurately
  • then trained in period behavior, horseback riding, sword fighting and action work; immersing himself in the era to bring the character to life
  • was already familiar with horse riding, sword work and action scenes from his time on Destan, so he didn’t have much difficulty since he had trained and filmed similar scenes before
• says the set, costumes and weapons are so impressive that they immediately put him into character and the grandeur of the plateau was breathtaking when he first arrived
  • his favourite accessory is his saddlebag
• loves action and movement, enjoys filming action scenes and had always wanted to ride horses
  • working in sync with such powerful animals gives him a thrilling sense of freedom
• he’s grateful for the positive reactions to Gonca and Alaeddin, saying the global messages motivate him and show how big the project really is
  • he feels he and his partner Belgin have great chemistry and support each other on set, lifting one another’s spirits when needed
• the opening scene of the first episode, an emotional dream sequence at his mother Bala’s grave, was the most challenging for him, as maintaining such intense feelings throughout the shoot, especially in the rain, was psychologically demanding
• believes love is rare and precious, worth fighting for only when the person truly deserves it; pure feelings can uplift you or become your downfall, but in Alaeddin and Gonca’s case, their sincere, selfless love and the courage they show for each other make it truly meaningful
