Eda Şölenci (Full Name: Eda Dunisa Şölenci) is a Turkish actress. She acted in Güneşin Kızları (Sunshine Girls, also: Hande Erçel, Miray Akay & Dilan Çiçek Deniz), Adı Efsane (A.K.A The Legend, also: Simay Barlas & Emre Bey), Aslan Ailem (Lion Family, also: Burcu Özberk), Aşk Ağlatır (Love Makes You Cry, also: Deniz Can Aktaş), Arıza, Şahsiyet (Persona, also: Şebnem Bozoklu), Şımarık (Son of a Rich, also: Kerem Bürsin), Veliaht (Dynasty of Love/Crownprince/Heir) and as Dilan in Aynı Yağmur Altında (Under The Same Rain, also: Taro Emir Tekin, Lara Aslan, Bahar Şahin, Nilsu Berfin Aktaş & Burak Tozkoparan).

Facts:

• her maternal family is Macedonian of Albanian descent and her paternal family is Turkish
• she has a strong interest in dancing and is particularly skilled in salsa and bachata
• during high school, she became curious about being on set and took on small roles in several projects to have fun and gain experience alongside her friends
• she started acting alongside her university studies
• she had always dreamed of going to Istanbul and standing on her own two feet
  • she lived in Izmir until she graduated from high school, after graduating from Bornova High School, she moved to Istanbul to continue her education at Istanbul University
  • suddenly, the pandemic hit and she thought she needed to do something
  • she saw a photo from her friend in Rome, asked how she managed to go there during the pandemic and after hearing her story, she went to Italy the following year, having been accepted for her master’s program
• because she didn’t know the language in Italy, she couldn’t work or communicate effectively at first and finding a place to live was very difficult, she faced many challenges
  • eventually, she managed to get a job at an Irish pub as a barmaid, which helped her socialise and gradually get settled and start finding her footing
  • after completing a year, she came to Türkiye for a vacation, she had just packed her suitcases and planned to take everything with her this time, thinking “I did this, I can handle what comes next; from now on, I’ll live in Rome.”
  • then a casting director called her and said “We’re considering you for a series; please send us your previous auditions.” it was for the series Şahsiyet
  • she thought “I’d pay to act alongside Haluk Bilginer!” but at the same time, she had built a life in Rome; paying rent, attending school and so on, so she couldn’t just leave everything behind
  • she decided to make a bold move and offered five times her usual fee for the role; if they rejected it, fine, she would just return to Italy
  • they accepted, she filmed Şahsiyet and then returned to complete her exams in Italy
  • after that, she felt she could no longer live in Rome and considered her Italy adventure over
  • this time, she began dreaming of living in Berlin, because of this, she extended her studies by a year and was able to go to Berlin through the Erasmus program
• her paternal grandmother had red hair, so her own red hair is natural
• she is generally the type of person who thinks “I need to do this somehow, I have to figure it out.”
• she would like to work with Benedict Cumberbatch and she’s a huge fan of Yorgos Lanthimos
• believes that people should, at least once in their lives, do without hesitation the thing they are most afraid of
• her dream is to travel the whole world, experience every culture, meet different people and learn random facts from them
