Asude Kalebek (Full Name: Asude Selma Kalebek) is a Turkish actress. She acted in Kulüp (The Club, also: Barış Arduç & Salih Bademci), Sakla Beni (Hide Me, also: Cemre Baysel & Uraz Kaygılaroğlu), Var Bunlar (Trans.: There Are These/There Are Such Things/They Exist) and as Melek in A.B.I. – Aile Bir İmtihandır (A Broken Inheritance/Family Is a Trial, also: Yaren Yapıcı, Ardıl Zümrüt, Ali Önsöz, Mert Demirci, Tuğçe Açıkgöz, Afra Saraçoğlu, Sinan Tuzcu, Serkay Tütüncü & Kenan İmirzalıoğlu). Her new Netflix series Handan will be released soon.
Facts:
- she had always talked about acting since she was little, so her family was somewhat used to the idea
- however, when things became serious, it felt very strange for them, they were especially frightened by the social pressures that people on media were subjected to
- being on Netflix added another layer of difficulty, as she found herself at the centre of attention in every aspect of her existence
- even as a child, while dreaming of acting, she couldn’t help but wonder what her family would think, but somehow, it all worked out
- after the series (Kulüp) ended, her father sent her heartfelt messages, congratulating her warmly
- her favourite part about her university is the wide range of electives, which allows her to take literature and film classes
- she also appreciates that her friends are very intellectual, as they help her grow and improve herself as a person
- rather than focusing on a specific actor she wants to work with, she would like to gain experience and contribute to projects in Europe, especially since she also studies Translation and Interpreting and is learning new languages
- she says that she accepts criticism and takes it seriously, but finds it difficult to constantly hear opinions from so many people, to be in the public eye and to censor herself while speaking
- that’s why she has been spending more time at home, not because she is upset by criticism, but because she isn’t used to receiving so much of it
- regarding her role in Kulüp, she said that everything filmed for Netflix is sent to Los Angeles
- from there, the production team was contacted and asked “Who is this girl?” they told them that they liked her performance
- she says that if she hadn’t entered the world of theatre and acting, she would have pursued whatever work made money
- she really enjoys video editing and might have chosen that as a career
- she says she loves learning languages and exploring cultures, because language and culture go hand in hand
- she adds that she genuinely loves everything about people and also has a deep passion for literature, photography and cinema
- she likes French actors and had come across an interview with Marion Cotillard, which she found very inspiring
- she doesn’t have a single idol, instead drawing different inspirations from everyone, while she might have liked to follow someone from Türkiye, she feels she wants to pave her own path
- country she might want to work in is Italy, she loves it there, especially Italian cinema
- she says France is beautiful, but that doesn’t matter too much, every country is different and unknown places feel more exciting, for her, such discoveries are what make things truly beautiful
- like everyone, she has a desire to go and live abroad and she imagines that everything might be better when she does
- on the other hand, she feels somewhat tied to her roots, she knows she would miss her life in Türkiye
- she says one of the downsides of her school is that they speak more English in classes, so she is a little more familiar with the language
- so she doesn’t think it would be a problem to maintain the same quality of acting in English; she might even perform better
