Barış Baktaş is a Turkish actor. He acted in Ceberruh (Trans.: Tyrant), No: 26 Ölüm Çığlığı (No 26: Death Cry), Rüzgarlı Tepe (Winds of Love, also: Ezgi Dalgıç & Cemre Arda), Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi (Saladin/Salahuddin Ayyubi: The Conqueror of Jerusalem, also: Fırat Kaya, Uğur Güneş, Burcu Kirman & Ozan Dolunay), Kan Çiçekleri (Vendetta, also: Virat Sefer, İlsu Demirci & Mert Demirci) and as Civan in Sevdiğim Sensin (Trans.: You Are The One I Love, also: Aytaç Şaşmaz & Helin Kandemir).

Facts:

• his family, surnamed Recepler, is a well-known family in Batman – Türkiye, both his father and grandfather were figures known as “ağa” (trans.: lord, landlord, master) and he grew up within that cultural structure
  • he has said that this background provided a kind of psychological preparation when he began to gain recognition in Istanbul
  • although he has heard rumours that his family lineage traces back to Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi, he is not certain of their accuracy
  • while his family is primarily involved in trade, there is also an artistic inclination within it, with relatives who studied cinema, worked as screenwriters or attended screenwriting courses
  • growing up in such a rooted family structure and within the “ağalık” (trans.: lordship) culture may have given him a natural understanding and presence that later benefited his portrayal of Baran Ağa in Kan Çiçekleri
• being from Batman, he may have Kurdish roots
• he is the eldest of five siblings; three boys and two girls
• initially studying Accounting and Auditing at Istanbul Commerce University at his family’s request and graduating third in his class, his career took an unexpected turn during his first year at university
  • through the guidance of his cousin, who is a lawyer, he was introduced to an acting agency, though he first saw it as a temporary pursuit, working as a supporting actor on more than 200 sets allowed him to learn the industry from the ground up and he eventually realised that acting had become a true passion
  • after deciding to take acting seriously, he received professional training from actors Ayşen İnci and Bülent Emin Yarar
• in October 2025, he and his wife welcomed their son Adar Doruk and they also have a cat named Zeyna
• he has expressed an interest in design fields such as architecture and graphic design, but was unable to study them because his exam score was not high enough
• he loves writing lyrics and composing music, he has performed his own songs, which have been streamed millions of times
  • however, he emphasises that singing is not his primary goal, he mostly creates songs out of boredom or as a way to capture certain feelings

• has received many compliments, especially about his eyes and mentions hearing comments like “If you look at me like that, you can have anything you want from me” or “I would leave my country and come to you.”
• expressed a desire to soften his habit of speaking everything directly, as sometimes he speaks without thinking and unintentionally hurts others’ feelings
